AudioControl Introduces the Director 2.0 Firmware for their Award Winning Network-Connected Amplifiers

The best just got better—new firmware is easier to navigate and includes powerful new features that enable integrators to provide the finest sound quality for every entertainment application, even in the most challenging spaces

Seattle, WA, September 9th, 2020 – AudioControl (audiocontrol.com) has introduced the Director 2.0 firmware that adds exciting features and an easier-to-navigate graphical user interface (GUI) for their complete line of Director Series and RS Series DSP amplifiers. The new 2.0 firmware adds important functionality and improves efficiency for integrators, enabling them to deliver the best entertainment systems for every client. AudioControl was the first manufacturer to offer DSP-based amplifiers with network connectivity starting in 2005.

Integrators will appreciate that the new user experience offers a clean look, providing easy accessibility to all features from a single page. The new GUI is also a responsive web page, making it easy to view on a variety of devices and screen sizes from phones and tablets to computers. The new interface is compatible with Apple and PC computer platforms as well as both iOS and Android mobile devices.

SDS Priority Input

The innovative SDS switching (Signal Detecting Switch) enables users to seamlessly interact with the highly popular smart doorbell devices, command prompts from voice assistants and other devices, seamlessly muting entertainment content until the event has passed. The SDS feature can be programmed to operate in any number of audio zones throughout the home. This feature represents an opportunity for integrators to provide added value with useful smart home functionality when installing a multi-zone entertainment system for their clients.

Enhanced DSP Features and Capabilities

Along with creating a GUI that is easier and more efficient to navigate on any device, AudioControl has added six additional parametric EQs for enhanced system tuning capability, channel metering for visual confirmation of signal levels (at the amplifier’s output stage) and a touch-sensitive webpage, enabling full system configuration from a phone, tablet or other touch-enabled devices. To simplify system tuning, AudioControl has included a pink noise generator available for all channels that is built-in to the software, enabling integrators to use the AudioControl Mobile Tools App or the award-winning DM-RTA to more efficiently calibrate their systems. Integrators will also have easy access to the Sound Partners DSP profiles for industry-leading architectural loudspeakers that optimize performance for every system at the touch of a button.

The Director Firmware Availability

The Director 2.0 firmware will be available for all current Director and RS Series Models in August, 2020 and will specifically upgrade the M6800, M6400, M4800, M4840, D2800, D4600 and RS Series models. Dirac and AudioControl Collaborate to Create a Higher Level of Bass Performance in Latest AudioControl AV Receivers and Processors

AUDIOCONTROL’S NEWEST CONCERT SERIES RECEIVERS AND MAESTRO SERIES AV PROCESSORS, NOW SHIPPING, FEATURE DIRAC LIVE BASS CONTROL

UPPSALA, Sweden, August 6, 2020 — Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac and AudioControl, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance audio solutions, announced that AudioControl’s latest line of receivers and processors include Dirac Live Bass Control for a more immersive home theater experience in any space.

Dirac Live Bass Control uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to co-optimize the components of a sound system to deliver accurate, consistent bass throughout a room.

“Bass performance suffers when the sound waves from speakers and subwoofers start to bounce around a room,” stated Niklas Thorin, Dirac’s Head of Business Development, Home & Professional Audio. “Dirac Live Bass Control dynamically measures and phase-corrects speakers and subwoofers across all frequencies in order to produce superior bass clarity and enhanced bass tone evenness throughout a room. Home theater audio has never sounded so rich and precise, as users of AudioControl’s leading AVRs and preamp/processors can now attest.”

Dirac Live Bass Control aggregates measurement and location data from each subwoofer to determine how a system’s bass is distributed throughout a room. It then identifies gaps in the sound waves and distributes bass evenly. The ground-breaking audio software also corrects the low-frequency sound waves produced by other speakers so that the bass produced by each speaker is in sync with the overall system. Such intelligent processing allows for flexible placement of subwoofers in a space to meet the listener’s design or aesthetic preferences.

Dirac Live Bass Control is part of the Dirac Live family of acoustic processing technology, which also includes the award-winning Dirac Live Room Correction calibration software.

“As a leading supplier of best-in-class home cinema receivers, processors and amplifiers to A/V specialists, we are excited to feature Dirac Live Bass Control as standard across our new Maestro X-Series processor platform and the majority of our XR Series receivers,” explained AudioControl CEO Alex Camara.

Continued Camara, “Dirac’s new bass control technology will enable AudioControl to provide the very best cinematic experience by intelligently optimizing the subwoofers and speakers to the characteristics of each room. Including Dirac Live Bass Control as standard on the majority of our processors and receivers is another example of AudioControl’s commitment to providing the very best entertainment solutions for our discerning customers.”

Dirac Live Bass Control is included with AudioControl’s Concert XR-8 and Concert XR-6 receivers and Maestro X7 and Maestro X9 preamp/processors. It is available for an additional cost for the Concert XR-4 receiver.

AudioControl Introduces New LGD for Late Model OEM Interface Applications

The LGD creates tremendous opportunities for 12-volt retailers by solving a common interface issue in aftermarket installations

Seattle, WA, October 8th, 2019 – AudioControl (audiocontrol.com) makers of innovative high-performance audio solutions for the residential, commercial and automotive markets has announced two new Load Generating Devices (LGD’s) that enable technicians to add aftermarket audio components to a wide range of newer vehicles from Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Maserati, as well as a wide range of post 2005 vehicles with both standard and premium factory sound systems.

Two New LGD Models

Most new vehicles use a class D amplifier platform in their factory sound systems. These factory amplifiers can become unstable when they are connected to aftermarket equipment, causing system noise and overall compatibility issues. In order to maximize the upgrade opportunity for 12-volt retailers, AudioControl engineers created the LGD series of solutions, which seamlessly interfaces these newer OEM systems with aftermarket amplifiers. The AudioControl AC-LGD20 was designed specifically for Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Maserati audio systems without an amplifier. The AC-LGD60 provides interface capability for these same vehicles that feature audio systems with an amplifier.

“The new LGD’s open up significant opportunities for our dealer base, enabling them to effortlessly deliver the audio performance their customers demand in these late model vehicles,” stated Chris Bennett, National Sales Director – Mobile at AudioControl.
