How to make any in-wall audio installation more reliable
There are two sad facts of life: Small speakers have their limitations and people like to find out just what they are. Every time your customer finds the limits of their speakers, you get a call back. Do the comments, "It buzzes" or "It doesn’t sound right anymore" sound familiar? If so, the AEQ-26 Architectural Equalizer is the perfect component to make your multi-zone audio system installations sound and perform their best.
Better Sounding Systems The heart of the AEQ-26 is its six band, custom-contoured speaker equalizer; an acoustic toolkit for getting better sound from smaller speakers. The six equalizer control bands (45 Hz, 150 Hz, 300 Hz, 700 Hz, 2500 Hz and 12 kHz) are provided to optimize in-wall, bookshelf, and outdoor loudspeakers at the critical frequencies where adjustment is most advantageous. These controls provide richer bass, smoother midrange and crisper highs so the overall sound of the system better matches the room acoustics.
Improved System Reliability Great sound is worthless if you have to come back every month to replace the speakers. In spite of clever designs, the laws of physics prevail. A 6" to 8" speaker simply cannot reproduce the deep, low bass of larger speakers. When a customer (or their wayward teenager) turns up the volume and tries to get more bass from their system, the poor speakers take a beating. At best, they waste amplifier power and things get hot. At worst, the speaker voice coils get pounded flat and die.
The AEQ-26 features our exclusive installer programmable bass cut filter. This allows you to set the bottom frequency limit for a speaker to protect it from excessive bass. The result is a system that can play louder and longer without fear of speaker damage.
Designed With Installers In Mind The compact single rack design makes the AEQ-26 easy to fit into your audio stack. The AEQ-26 is also designed with rotary adjustment controls instead of the more fiddle prone slide controls so there are less problems with curious fingers. The bass cut filter frequency module is safely concealed beneath the top cover so the end-user cannot change it. Even the front faceplate is easily removable so you can install a rackmount or standard front plate. You could also create a custom finished face.
